Handle with Care by Jodi Picoult

The premise of this novel intrigued me, especially since I know a local family (recently on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition) with a child with OI.

So the plot summary: Charlotte & Sean O’Keefe really wanted a child. When Willow was born, they loved her, however, their days are now made up of worrying about when the next break will occur and how to pay the mounting bills from Willow’s medical care. After a disastrous trip to Disney World, everything changes as Charlotte and Sean  confront the most serious what-ifs of all. What if Charlotte should have known earlier of Willow’s illness? What if things could have been different? What if their beloved Willow had never been born? To do Willow justice, Charlotte must ask herself these questions and one more. What constitutes a valuable life? Charlotte ends up filing a lawsuit to secure Willow’s financial future; however, since it’s a Picoult novel, her OB-GYN was (of course) her best friend. The consequences of the lawsuit affect everything from Charlotte’s marriage, friendship and her relationship with her two daughters.

I was really enjoying reading this latest from Picoult, especially since I hadn’t enjoyed her last book. However, after all the drama and tension, the ending just fell flat to me. So I ended up being disappointed overall by the novel. Didn’t have that sense of satisfaction I usually get after I finish something really good.
