Peoria in Books

So I’ve wanted to do this for awhile and the book I read this weekend has prompted this new list. References to Peoria in books is what I’ll track. The phrase “Will it Play in Peoria” is popular and now I’m going to keep a list of all the books Peoria is mentioned.

Outtakes from a Marriage by Ann Leary – pg. 37 “A parent whose husband’s status as a billionaire had earned them the privilege of being seated at Elaine’s table had told that Elaine had sniped, ‘This is New York, not Peoria! Who would pay money to walk around a television set all day?”

Dear American Airlines by Jonathan Miles

Booked to Die by John Dunning

Oh My Stars by Lorna Landvik – the band plays all around Illinois and Peoria is mentioned.

The Castaways by Elin Hilderbrand – pg. 243 “She knew their type – married thirty-and forty-somethings,  probably with a stable of kids back home, wherever they lived, Peoria or East Bumblefuck, Idaho.”

I would have to read it again, but there’s a good chance Peoria is mentioned in Catch by Will Leitch.
